    ParaNorman
Dir. Chris Butler & Sam Fell
    Country: USA
    Aus Rating: PG
    Running Time: 92mins

“Stop-motion animated horror comedies about zombies in Small Town, America” is probably the most unlikely of plot descriptions to pop up twice in several months, and yet here we are. So soon after Tim Burton revisited his black and white childhood roots in Frankenweenie, we get ParaNorman. From the same production house that brought audiences the dazzling Coraline, Sam Fell and Chris Butler’s feature (Fell previously directed Flushed Away and The Tales of Despereaux, but this is Butler’s debut) is perhaps an even greater achievement. Wickedly funny, refreshingly sly, wonderfully textured and nuanced, ParaNorman is a marvellous pertinent tale for all ages.
